Didn’t get the job

Saturday, October 31st, 2009 10:09am GMT

well what a week, went for the job interview on Monday then had some tests to do on Thursday, boy it was hard, my brain ached. only to be telephoned later and told I hadn’t been successful. Oh well at least I have a job.

The new neighbours are still rebuilding the garden, after taking all the leylandii trees out and burning them last week , which really annoyed everyone as all the cars in the road were covered in ash. They have now got the fence up, great for us as the trees were umanagable. Woken up again this morning with the digger in the garden and the hammering in the house (new kitchen and bathroon suite going in).

It’s all go.

Applying for a New Job

Friday, October 16th, 2009 12:18pm BST

Well I have started the process of applying for a new job within the Police who I already work for. The new role I am applying for is that of Air Obsever on the forces helicopter. This will be a challenging application process let alone a challenging job. Yesterday I attended the briefing and succesfully passed the “spatial awareness ” tests.

Today I have been writing all the information to go on the application form to send it in ready for the paper sift which takes place on the 23rd October. If I get through that stage the next hurdle will be classroom tests and interview, then would be a trip to RAF Cranwell for leadership tests and other air obsever tests, if lucky enough to get passed this stage then comes the airbourne navigation excercises and soit goes on one hurdle after another until your accepted for training.

Oh and you also have to pass the fitness test so I’m off for a training run later, I haven’t done any running for many years so its going to  be very hard. I’ll add some more when I am capable of breathing again!!

Wednesday 29 April

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009 11:15pm BST

Well I suppose I ought to get back to doing some blogging. Just not been in the mood recently! I wonder if anyone will actually read this, leave a comment if you do I’d hate to think I was writing to myself.

Well what have I been up to. Quite a lot of work on the website, new detailed graphs page added and a new graphic on the astronomy page showing the current sun position. I have today finished updating the wap page so you can view it on your mobile phone here
point your phone to www.weybourneweather.co.uk/wapindex.php
Many thanks to all at The Weather Watch Forum for all their help, I couldn’t do it with out there help as I know nothing about coding etc, but I am picking up bits and pieces.
I had a week off work on leave didn’t do a lot but recharged my batteries, did a bit of gardening and work on the allotment.
Last Saturday my son had his eighteenth birthday party in the garden. Luckily the weather was quite good but a garden full of drunk teenagers with VERY loud music was not all fun. No complaints from the neighbours so must have been OK.
Work is still not good but must persevere and see if things get better, at least after some leave I feel a bit better about it.
this swine flu looks a bit serious doesn’t it? Have to keep a eye on that.
Well not much more to say, I won’t leave it so long next time.

Monday 30 March

Monday, March 30th, 2009 9:52pm BST

Well I’ve had a day off sick followed by my three rest days and the back is now much better. Even managed to get down to the allotment and do some digging!! Also I’ve calmed down a bit over work, but I’m back there tomorrow for a training day, apparently nothing specific planned so it will probably be really boring.

Did you see the Grand Prix? Great to see another brit winning, about time Jenson Button had a good race and a victory. Looks like this F1 season is going to be a good one and more interesting than recent years.

The weather here has been quite good which always makes me feel better. Spent yesterday washing the car so its now all nice and shiny.

Bye for now

Saturday 28 March

Saturday, March 28th, 2009 11:25pm GMT

Ok Ok so it’s been a while since I last posted.

Well it’s been one of those weeks. Things at work are getting worse each day the changes they are making to our job seem to get worse. I don’t want to say too much about what I do but we were spending our time driving around Surrey on the main roads assisting drivers and others who had broken down or had an accident, everything from a minor bump to a full on serious injury accident and worse. It was a great job and you felt you were really achieving something. Now the powers that be say we can no longer cover the county but have to stay in one small area dealing with minor local issues. It’s not the job we applied for, trained for or have been doing for the last few years, we may still be asked to attend the more serious accidents on the major roads but not often. We are so annoyed and frustrated by the lack of consultation or discussion, and the fact that these changes have been forced upon us by senior management who have never even visited us to see what we actually do, that many of us are looking for work elsewhere. In the current economic climate and at my age I really could do without the worry of having to find another job. The new working practice starts next week so will have to wait and see if its as bad as we’re expecting …or worseFree Smiley Face

Not only have I had to put up with all this but I managed to be so tense about it that I put my back into spasm and had to come home sick. Free Smiley Face

Well that’s enough of my ranting, must remember to put the clocks forward as its the start of British summer time, and also tomorrow morning sees the first race of the new F1 grand prix season, now that I am looking forward to :)

Friday 20 March 2009

Friday, March 20th, 2009 10:55pm GMT

Had a couple of days just chilling out, a bit of weeding at the allotment, pottering around the house etc. The weather has been great, clear blue skies and pleasantly warm sunshine.

Had to go to the airport today to pick daughter and her boyfriend after their holiday in Egypt. They have had a great time and we’ve already been through the 485 photographs she has taken. She especially enjoyed swimming with Dolphins.

Wednesday 18 March

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009 8:28pm GMT

First of all sorry for not posting for a few days :(

It’s been a pretty boring week at work and fairly quiet at home after last weeks fun and games. My daughter is now on holiday in Egypt, son has started his new job at the supermarket and seems to be getting on well.

My wife , Son and his girlfriend are out tonight watching the first leg of the Ice Hockey final between Guildford Flames and the Peterborough Pirates at the Guildford Spectrum, So I’m left dog sitting. The flames are our local Ice Hockey team and have been in the final each year recently. I’ll let you know the result tomorrow.

Bye for now happy0144

Tuesday 10 March

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009 11:14pm GMT

Phew!  Well after yesterdays trauma today was a little bit less hectic. The dog was improving all the time. We phoned the vet as her heart rate still seemed erratic, and arranged to go and see him this evening. It seems she has been very lucky, had she been a couple of years older then she would be dead by now. Any way the vet examined her and although she is not completely recovered she seems to be over the critical stage.

As for the rest of the day it was fairly quiet. Tonight my daughter was packing her bags ready to fly off on holiday to Egypt tomorrow, lucky girl.

So it will have to be an early night as she will be leaving at about 5 am for the airport.

so I think that will do for today. Back tomorrow.

Monday 9 March

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009 12:12am GMT

So I thought  “a day off,Ican relax again” But it never works out that way does it?

First of all despite my better half also having a day off I had to get up to give her a lift to work, just so she could deliver the cakes she made yesterday to the office as it was a workmates birthday.

Miss Inocent!

Miss Innocent!

We were only gone half an hour but by the time we got back our dog, an 18 month old springer spaniel had manged to help herself to a large bag of salt and vinigar crisps and a very large very bitter dark chocolate bar, probably about 8oz!

Then off I went to the allotment where I did lots of digging and rotorvating getting ready to start this seasons seed planting. I worked very hard for a couple of hours before I decided that was enough for today.

On my return my wife was busy writing her essay for her university project, she is trying to get back into nursing so is doing a course part time at guildford uni. The dog was getting very hyperactive.

By the time the kids came home from work the dog, Izzy, was in quite a state, she could not settle her heart was racing and she was hot and panting. A quick check on the internet  and we realised the chocolate she had eaten could kill her. So wife and daughter took her off to the vet.

They returned about an hour later without Izzy. She was to spend the night at the vets so they could give her heart tablets and monitor her overnight. But an hour after that the vet phoned and we thought the worse, however it was not the news we dreaded. In fact despite having been given a sedative she would not let the vet or nurse anywhere near her, growling and snarling at them everytime they went near the cage. So it was back to thevet to collect her and for us to try and give her the tablets.

Izzy got back home and took her tablet without any problem. She is still very on edge and won’t settle. We have to give her a second tablet at 4 in the morning.

Luckily I’m not back to work ’til Thursday. Perhaps tomorrow will be more relaxing… watch this space.

Sunday 8 March

Sunday, March 8th, 2009 11:42pm GMT

Aah Sunday, a day of rest 8) . Well for a change it was quite a restful day for me. Everyone else seemed to be rushing around but not me.

I got up to blue skies and sunshine which gets the day off to a good start. Wife and eldest were planning to make cakes so I just relaxed and let them get on with it.

It wasn’t long before the wind got up and the dark clouds started rolling in.. SMASH something got broken in the kitchen. Just an accident not tempers getting frayed thank goodness.

Oh yea I did manage to sort out the rotorvator ready for a day at the allotment tomorrow, but then it was back to sitting in front of the T.V. Sounds like I’m a lazy so and so but believe me this it not the way things usually happen. Anyway the good stuff continued as my eldest daughter even cooked the dinner, and that doesn’t happen often 8-O .

By now of course the rain was pelting down we3rainy03 , but at least we were warm and dry with some nice cakes to eat!!
